Worship and Music

The Worship and Music committee strives to provide all who enter Centennial Lutheran Church with inspirational and meaningful ways to worship our Lord. The committee works closely with the minister to make sure the worship services run smoothly by enlisting help from the congregation with cleaning the sanctuary, ushering, acolyting, and serving communion. A sub-committee, the Alter Guild, maintains the alter cloths and changes them according to the church seasons. It also prepares the physical elements used for communion and baptisms.

We currently have one regular service, every Sunday at 9:00 AM. It is a traditional service, sometimes called a liturgical service; it follows a structured format for worship embodying segments for absolution, praise, study of the Word, sermon, prayer, communion, and blessing. This service has a formal choir, called the Jubilation Choir, under the direction of Sam Liew, and features traditional Christian hymns and songs.

LENTEN AND HOLY WEEK SERVICES

Lent begins this year on February 6, Ash Wednesday. On this day and on every Wednesday evening before Passion/Palm Sunday, March 16, there will be a free soup supper at 6:00 PM in the fellowship hall, followed at 7:00 PM with a midweek Lenten Service in the sanctuary. This year our study will be "The Body of Christ." This series looks at the feet, hands, ears, eyes, mouth, and heart of Christ. Easter falls on March 23. On March 20, Maundy Thursday, we will observe the Passover, complete with a traditional dinner, as Christ may have done with His disciples on the night He was betrayed. See this spot next month for more details about Holy Week observances.
